It seems as if we are always asking the question, but where do we go from here? We always want the answer to next step of the plan. How do we enjoy the here and now, while keeping a proper perspective on the future?
We ask “are we there yet?” In the moment we arrive we ask what comes next? Slow down, take a breath and relax. Why are you in such a rush to see what’s around the corner? God usually doesn’t work that way. In the book of Psalms we read
119: 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
A lamp? God I want some sunshine. At least can I have a spot light we ask? We want to see the light at the end of the tunnel before we enter it. But… all we get is a lamp. A glimpse of what lies ahead.
I’m beginning to think I’m supposed to enjoy my ignorance somewhat. Not because what lies ahead is going to be difficult. We can figure that out on our own. We need to enjoy the moment. The kids whose hugs and kisses which will soon just be fond memories. The loving touch of the wife we adore. (I love you honey). The revelation moments we receive while spending time with God. It’s these things that will strengthen us for the journey ahead.
Run when it’s time to run, but walk when it’s time to walk.. Our race is not about speed. This race is about displaying God’s glory to the world that He may be glorified.
