The Cross

This is somewhat of a repost.  With Easter around the corner the cross will undoubtedly be on the mind of Christians around the world. What comes to mind when you think of the cross?  Hope, fear, pain, passion, confusion, mystery.

What questions do you have?  Why did Jesus need to be crucified if God is all powerful?  What about the resurrection?  How did that happen?  The purpose is not to answer these questions now.  It’s just to stir you.  To allow you gain perspective.

Here are some of my thoughts.

The cross of Christ stands in the center of the universe.  Connecting eternity with time.  Connecting eternity passed, with the eternity to come.  Connecting a perfect God with His peculiar people.  Without it we stand separated from God. But, Christ stepped out of eternity into time.  He put on the humility of humanity in order to rescue His fallen people.  His decision is beyond our comprehension.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
